Heather Koon, 25, is facing two counts of rape after police found video footage on her laptop of her “engaging in sexual conduct with an unknown infant.” James Osborne, Koon’s boyfriend who lives with her and is a registered sex offender, was also arrested on Oct. 4, after police discovered the laptop at their apartment. They are being held at Lorain County Jail, where Koon is being held on $2 million bond, $1 million for each felony count. She isn’t worthy of the air she breathes, and deserves to rot in jail!
The two victims, between 1 and 2 years old, were sexually assaulted by Koon at ABC Kidz child care in Elyria. Many parents have come forward to express concern for their children, who may have also fallen victim to this heinous crime.
“He doesn’t like his diaper being changed. He doesn’t like being touched … when I used to drop him off there, he used to scream so bad that he would be like hyperventilating,” says Andrea Lankey of her 2-year-old, who was also under Koon’s care. I can’t imagine the anger and rage that these parents must feel. I don’t think I’d ever fully recover from something like this happening to my family.
Despite Lankey’s suspicions, attorney for ABC Kidz Carlos Johnson says that the company does not believe there were other victims. The father of the victim in the video says that representatives from ABC Kidz tried to downplay the whole thing, writing it off as a simple assault.
“A few hours later they called us back again and asked us to keep it discreet,” says the father, who wishes to remain anonymous. Unbelievable! These are our children, this is the kind of news that needs to be brought to EVERYONE’S attention.
ABC Kidz released the following statement:
“The daycare is cooperating with the investigation and we’re compiling a list to determine which kids were present while she, Heather Koon, worked there. We do not think there are more victims, but out of the abundance of cautiousness we want to make sure that we are correct.”
A Long Island mom who admitted to drowning her three children has given birth to a fourth while incarcerated.
NBC New York reports that Leatrice Brewer, 33, was impregnated at the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center in New Hampton where she’s been locked up since admitting to drowning her three kids in a bathtub in 2008.
The center refused to comment, citing privacy laws, and it remains unclear who the father of Brewer’s child is or how she was able to get pregnant at the secure facility, according to NBC New York.
Attorney Tom Foley, who represents the father of two of Brewer’s deceased children, called her pregnancy “outrageous”.
“This person’s supposedly in a secure facility and she gets pregnant,” Foley said. “This is the woman who had no idea what she was doing when she murdered her children.”
The Associated Press reported last week that Brewer, who was found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, is also seeking a cut of $350,000 won by the fathers of her children in wrongful death lawsuits.
Psychiatrists who evaluated Brewer said she had a major depressive disorder and likely killed her children because she wanted to save them from the deadly effects of voodoo, according to the AP.
Shortly after she killed her children, Brewer attempted suicide, first by swallowing a combination of cleaning products and then by jumping out of a two-story window.
The Manhattan mother of two young children found fatally stabbed in their Tony Upper West Side apartment maintained a blog of her children, detailing the “precious hours” she spent with them.
Marina Krim returned to her West 75th Street home at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday with her third child after nanny Yoselyn Ortega, 50, failed to meet her for swimming lessons with Krim’s two other children, Leo, 2, and Lucia, 6. When she arrived, the children were already dead in a bathtub and Ortega lay injured nearby with apparently self-inflicted stab wounds, according to police.
“Something happened to my kids!” screamed the sobbing mom, who wrapped the nanny’s neck with a towel.
Doorman Glen Loody told the New York Post he heard the distraught mother’s cries and called 911. “She was crying. She was screaming,” he said.
Ortega, who was found near a knife, remained hospitalized Friday in stable condition, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne told FoxNews.com.
New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said it’s unclear how long the nanny had worked for the family. Ortega, who has no criminal record, had not been charged as of early Friday.
Krim, a pediatrician who was a stay-at-home mother until a year ago, kept a loving online journal of her children’s lives, including apple-picking trips, family vacations and strolls down Broadway, the Post reported.
In Krim’s latest entry — posted to “Life with the Little Krim Kids” just three hours before finding Lucia and Leo dead — the loving mom wrote about her son learning to put words together.
“Leo speaks in the most adorable way possible,” Marina Krim wrote, describing her mood at the time as “amused.”
In February, Krim wrote about visiting their nanny’s family in the Dominican Republic. Krim referred to the woman as Josie. It’s unclear whether it’s the same woman found wounded Thursday.
“We met Josie’s amazing familia!!! And the Dominican Republic is a wonderful country!!,” she wrote.
Another entry in May detailed Leo’s obsession with his new Crocs.
“Even at nap time — Josie, our nanny, took them off and he screamed bloody murder, so she put them back on and he went right to sleep,” Krim wrote.
Marina and her husband Kevin were extra careful in hiring and vetting Ortega, even spending nine days with her family in the Dominican Republic prior to her hiring, according to friends.
“Kevin told me that she was a nice girl,” the children’s paternal grandmother, Karen Krim, told The Post. “How could she do something like that? The children were angels.”
Ortega’s niece, Katherine Garcia, 28, said her aunt had seemed a little off and was “acting kind of nervous lately.”
“This is just shocking,” she told the newspaper. “She loved those kids. I don’t know what would make her do this.”
Kevin Krim, a CNBC executive, was returning from a business trip to San Francisco and was notified of the horrific killings once he arrived in Manhattan last night, a source said. Police then took him to St. Luke’s Hospital, where Krim had to be sedated. The couple’s third child, Nessie, 3, did not witness the carnage at her home.
Originally from the West Coast, the Krims moved from San Francisco to New York a few years ago. Neighbors described the young family as happy and loving.
“It’s horrifying,” said one resident, who met the nanny for the first time Wednesday. “She was very quiet — she just stared ahead.”
The couple’s three children had participated at their aunt’s wedding just last month, with Leo acting as a ring bearer and Lucia and Nessie serving as flower girls.
“I just don’t understand,” another neighbor said. “It’s so senseless. A nanny would be the last person I’d think would ever do something like that. I’m in shock. Total disbelief.”
Fernando Mercado, the superintendent of the building where Ortega lives with her sister and niece, told The Wall Street Journal that she is “a very nice woman” and “very religious.”
“To me, she has always been very, very stable,” Mercado said.
